Beginner's guide to Upholstery

I ran out of DIY‌ last week, how about you…?

There’s always upholstery…

I wrote the Grazia Girls’ ‘Guide to re-upholstering your furniture’ a couple of years ago. During these bizarre weeks while we’ll be spending a fair amount of our time looking at the interior of your houses thinking ‘ooo what can I fix today’ it seems appropriate to dig the article out of the web and forward you all a little link.

Having a go at a little bit of upholstery is good for the soul, your home and the planet! Yes, even the planet. By using scrap fabric, odd bits and bobs you’ve got to hand to do up your furniture and make it your own means you give perhaps a tired stool, old chair or squishy sofa (perhaps not for your first attempt) a new lease of life and will potentially prevent you from throwing stuff in the tip.

You can use old cushion covers, curtains, scour Ebay for vintage finds or any fabric you’ve stashed away. The guide also includes basic tools and a ‘how to’.

Have fun and get going, don’t forget to tag your make on Instagram @boughtwoodrestoration so I‌ can see all your handy work. Good luck.
